Liquorice Wood (or liquorice root if you prefer) - a sweet (if you can call it that!) from days gone by. This is real liquorice root which you chew - and chew.. and chew!
It's one of the most nostalgically-charged sweets we have, and we're really proud to have found them. It's extremely popular!
In the War children used to chew it both for the taste and also it helped to clean their teeth... or so I remember being told when I was young.
Each stick is approx 7cm in length.

An evocative taste from the past and my childhood some 60yrs ago. My teeth were in better condition then but I can still suck and the wood tasted the same as it always did. What a wonderful Thing to do to bring back these sweets that were such a major part of our youth. Thank you

Another thing to include in sweet hamper - Mum used to buy them in local chemists when I was little.

I rembered one night how much i love them. turns out i was right. I just chew them as soemthing to do when i am working. Nice distraction that doesn't involve trolling the internet or smoking. They are really tasty. Am about to try all kinds of cooking with them. One stick lasted me a week of chewing and they really clean your teeth!
